McCain Supports Legislation Protecting Identity of News Sources

Senator and presidential candidate John McCain talked to reporters on his "Straight Talk Express" bus about his support for legislation protecting the confidentiality and identity of news sources. He also expressed on a related not that he feels news sources should put corrections to stories at the forefront of their papers rather than in the "small print". The 71-year-old candidate admitted that he was back and forth on the decision because he knew the legislation has the possibility of doing both harm and good. The story ended with a quote from McCain revealing that he is less than confident in his decision, which frankly, makes me less than confident in him as a president.

For a news article about the news, I felt this story was very well balanced. While it was simply an account of a news conference with Sen. McCain, the reporter succeeded in quoting McCain about the up and downsides to this legislation. Though it was not a very big or important story, it is good to see unbiased reporting on an issue close to any reporter.
