Miley Cyrus says Vanity Fair photo spread embarrasses her
Miley Cyrus the 15-year-old star of the Disney channels “Hannah Montana” has come under scrutiny after posing for a Vanity Fair photo shoot reported the Associate Press. The photo under scrutiny reveals the teen idol is wrapped in what appears to be a satin bed sheet, looking over her shoulder with her back exposed. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus said. The photos of the star will be appearing in the upcoming issue of the magazine and where taken by renowned celebrity photographer, Annie Leibovitz, known for her edgy portrait photos. The pictures were to accompany an interview with Miley and her father Billy Ray Cyrus. Vanity Fair defended the photos arguing her parents to be present at the photo shoot and seeing the photos before release. The Disney channel representative said, “Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."
The stars "Best of Both Worlds" tour sold out arenas and her successful 3-D concert film made $31.3 million in its opening weekend in February. Miley Cyrus has a big influence to the G rated market and a photo like this could ruin the star and cause a sort of defamation or false light. As a role model to many young girls, this photo although approved by the star at the shoot has caused a negative influence on the star and at the stars request should be removed or not used. Photos using celebrities should be used or taken in the stars best interest and not be used to generate sales off the star. The photo of the 15-year-old looks inappropriate for a girl her age and her parents should have made efforts to keep the stars image safe.
